Pride and Shame

By Marla Brettschneider

CLAL: the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership, November 10, 1995

Marla Brettschneider discusses her experiences as a Jew living in a mostly Christian and conservative rural area in Pennsylvania. She states the while Jews in rural areas are much more likely to be ashamed of their Jewishness than those in urban areas, her Jewish community is surprisingly self-reliant and does not take their Jewish lives or community for granted.
