As the Old Zionism Begins to Fade

By Harry Gersh

Eugene Borowitz, April 18, 1975

There is no religious content in American Zionism-and in the next generation there will be a much greater correspondence between secularist and not-so-Jew-ish than is true of the present generation. A new relationship between American Jewry and Israel must be built based on what is eternal, transcendent immanent to Judaism: the individual and collective relationship between Jew and God.
