The Full Truth about Half a Diet

By Marc Brandriss

Eugene Borowitz, March 17, 1978

Writing tongue-in-cheek as part of this satirical Purim parody issue on the theme of health and (over-) eating, the author argues against the fictional Jewish group Beriyah, which (fictionally) calls for a new standard of kashrut which would declare all food over 1800 calories per day to be unkosher. Beriyah is a front for the Pro Lean Organization (PLO), the author charges, arguing that American Jews should instead support the Bloc of the Fatful, Gush Shemaynim.
