For Some Measure of Humility

By Elie Wiesel

Eugene Borowitz, October 31, 1975

For today a book about the Holocaust is a book like any other, produced by literary technicians. Anyone can write it: words, words which are carefully weighted, measured, borrowed for their market value, words distorted to satisfy some sore of thirst for vanity, or intrigue, or revenge. It is as though the survivors no longer existed.
