Thin is Beautiful

By Arnold Jacob Wolf

Eugene Borowitz, March 17, 1978

Writing tongue-in-cheek as part of this satirical Purim parody issue on the theme of health and (over-) eating, the author argues on behalf of the fictional Jewish group of which he is the chairman, Beriyah, which (fictionally) calls for a new standard of kashrut which would declare all food over 1800 calories per day to be unkosher. It is not that Beriyah wants fewer Jews, the author explains -- just less of them!
